Thirty-two athletes qualified for the National Team Trials during Saturday’s opening day of the 2009  National Team Qualifier at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs.  The qualified athletes will advance to fight at the National Team Trials in Austin, Texas, on April 24.  Click Here to see all the athletes advancing.

Illinois would like to congratulate Cornelia Torres from Inverness, IL.  Cornelia placed 2nd at the Team Trials and qualifies to compete in Austin, Texas in April.  Cornelia is from Team Champyon in Chicago Illinois.

Other athletes from Illinois that competed but didn’t qualify were Nedra Medina, Laurrissa Tanielu, Valerie Mueller, and Michelle Silva.  Congratulations to all Illinois fighters for their determination.
